Improved map data & routing algorithm in DI Main
We are updating the map data in DI Main, replacing data that is approximately 6 years old with fresh data sourced from OpenStreetMap, including changes made in the new road editor. Alongside this, we are replacing the current routing algorithm with the same algorithm used across the rest of DI Optimize (Spider v1 -> Spider v2).
Timeline
- 12th March: Changes deployed to staging
- 18th March: Changes go live in production
During the period between March 12–18, you are encouraged to compare the differences between staging and production.
Why are we making this change?
- Updated map data: The existing map data is outdated. The new data brings DI Main up to the same standard currently offered in DI Optimize.
- Modern routing algorithm: The current algorithm is a legacy version that can no longer be modified. The new algorithm is maintained to today's standards and can be adjusted and improved over time.
What is affected?
This change will only affect the calculation of travel time between modules and delivery time. It will not affect any report structure or formatting available in DI, and no changes will be made to Payroll, or any values that are manually edited.
Important note on manual road edits
The new map data does not carry over any manual changes previously made in the old road editor. If customizations were applied using the old road editor, these will be replaced by the new map data, the same data that is edited using the new road editor going forward.
