Buddy 1.1.0
Here's what's new in DI Buddy version 1.1.0. The app is from 25.03.2024 available in App Store and Google Play Store.
What's New
Improved performance on older devices
We've implemented improvements to our app to provide a better experience for all users:
Our team has optimized the app to deliver a smoother performance, even on devices with lower hardware capabilities. You can now enjoy a faster and more responsive experience across the board.
Specifically focusing on devices with limited hardware resources, we've made changes to ensure enhanced performance, to give all our users a better experience.
Users familiar with the app may notice differences in the route list mode as we've changed it to improve usability and efficiency. Regardless of whether you're using the route in list mode, split delivery information/map mode, or navigation mode, our app now offers consistent functionality, ensuring an intuitive experience throughout.
Finally, we've made minor design tweaks and enhancements to further refine the app's appearance and usability.
Buddy in-app navigation for a seamless journey
Utilizing Mapbox's premium navigation feature, we've created a tailored in-app navigation experience. Our goal is to ensure carriers enjoy a seamless journey without the hassle of switching between various delivery modes within Buddy or toggling between different apps when delivering.
In this mode, upon arrival at each stop, the carrier can effortlessly view delivery details, and conveniently complete tasks like acknowledging parcels or report deviations. Subsequently, they can seamlessly navigate to the next stop in their route.
Accessing this functionality incurs a fee per user, as we utilize a paid third-party solution from Mapbox. The Buddy Navigation is activated per user and the functionality requires that users have their user account in DI.
This feature is currently in the pilot phase. For updates on its status and further information, please reach out to your company's DI system administrator who is in touch with our customer success managers. They'll be able to provide you with the latest details and answer any questions you may have.
Always show Route instructions
Based on user feedback and observations during our field testing with Buddy, we've implemented a significant enhancement regarding module and address instructions. Previously, users had to click on modules or addresses to access the instructions. The click-to-view functionality creates challenges, particularly in building blocks and corridors, where carriers rely on instructions to navigate efficiently.
Now, we offer users the flexibility to choose whether they prefer to always have instructions visible or maintain the previous click-to-view functionality. This improvement aims to streamline the user experience and cater to individual preferences more effectively.
If you are wondering how to turn on the functionality, please see the Route Instructions article on Freshdesk.
Let the carriers help create more efficient routes
Those who have used Buddy for a while know that it was previously possible for the carriers to edit and correct the module coordinates to help create more efficient routes. This functionality was disabled because the coordinates were not sent back to the distribution solution in DI and it was experienced as two different worlds, one in Buddy and one in DI Main.
We are glad to announce that we now have reenabled editing of module coordinates in Buddy, allowing users to edit module coordinates with synchronization to the distribution system in DI.
This functionality can be activated on a per-company basis, ensuring that updates are seamlessly reflected in the system. If your company wants to enable this please reach out to your company's DI system administrator who is in touch with our customer success managers.
Explore the future planned routes
As part of this update, we're rolling out a new feature that lets users get a sneak peek into upcoming routes starting from approved Pendings in DI Main.
With this feature, users can check out future planned routes along with deliveries from the last seven days. It's like getting a preview of how the new routes fit in with their regular deliveries, giving the user a more insightful understanding of the future planned routes.
Bug fixes and improvements
Resolved a problem in split delivery and map view where the module would desynchronize while swiping for the next delivery, leading to a gradual loss of context with each delivery point, notably impacting users with larger routes.
Fixed an issue where keys were not appearing on specific module types.
Addressed a concern where the GPS remained active in route list mode, unnecessarily draining the battery.
Fixed an issue related to acknowledging parcels for customers with more than 5 parcels on the same day.
