A new version of the Optimize plugin, version 1.2.0, will be released Monday, December 9th.

What’s new in Optimize 1.2.0?

Paxster vehicle profile

In version 1.2.0 we introduce the Paxster vehicle profile.

  • Route optimization with the new Paxster as your vehicle profile

  • Use the vehicle profile to analyse routes and simulate on existing pendings

    • Import your current Paxster routes, add Paxster as a profile and run route measurement jobs in QGIS on them to give you more accurate route measurements

    • Simulate and analyze vehicle profile changes from your current fleet to Paxster to see how that affect effciency and route measurements

Some key information about the Paxster:

  • Max speed 65 km/h

  • Will not use motorways

  • Will not use pedestrian bridge (gangbro)

  • Uses pedestrian and bicycle paths, but we have added a "cost" for doing so, and it will aim to use the roads suites for cars

Vehicle profiles are complex to design and we have spent a lot of time getting the profile right. But we do know that every geography is different and the profile might not behave perfectly. We ask you to test the new profile in your geography and get back to us with your experience with the Paxster.

General vehicle profile improvements

We have improved the speed profile of vehicles with higher average speeds on certain road sections (service roads and living streets). The default speed was set to low and that resulted in a higher travel time in some geographies. The improvement should result in route measurements closer to reality.

Waypoints

We have also made an improvement to the waypoints (snap points) where we now avoid snapping to motorway (motorvei), bridges and tunnels. By improving this you should get better route measurements without having to manually change the waypoints using the tool in the plugin.
