DI Optimize - version 1.6.0 saving of waypoints
On Monday, April 27th, we will release version 1.6.0 of the Optimize plugin.
In version 1.6.0, you can now save changes you make to waypoints (snap-punkter). A module or delivery point not placed directly on a road will automatically receive a waypoint on the nearest stretch of road, based on straight-line distance.
An example could look like this:
The modules with sequence numbers 39, 40, and 41 all have waypoints on the same stretch of road. Number 42, however, has a waypoint on a different stretch of road. Since the waypoint is placed on the nearest stretch by default, it might not reflect the most logical or practical placement.
Manually adjusting the automatically assigned waypoints allows for more accurate route measurements, as you can apply your local knowledge to bring them closer to reality.
A changed waypoint for the module with sequence 42 might look like this:
Previously, you could modify waypoints, but those changes would not be saved or reused if the same coordinates were later imported. Now, you can check the "Save" box to save your new waypoint.
In this initial release, you won’t be able to use the saved waypoints when setting up and submitting an optimization. However, you will be able to use them when working with the "Routing and sequencing" feature. This is typically useful when requesting a new sequence or calculating route measurements for your routes.
If you have saved waypoints and want to use them as part of a new route structure, you can run an optimization and then click "Calculate Route" without checking the "Create new sequence" box. This will give you updated distance and time values using the saved waypoints, while maintaining the same sequence generated by the optimization.
If you have a custom map—typically set up along with our new road editor—your saved waypoints will be stored in your custom map and not shared with other users.
If you don't have a custom map, any stored waypoints will be shared with other DI customers using the OSM map.
Stored waypoints will in this version not be imported back and used in the route measurements created in DI Main.
If you have any questions about changing and saving waypoints, don’t hesitate to reach out.
