Efficient label printing in Cargostream

STAGE: Completed activities
PROJECTED DONE: January 2023

User story

As a scan-operator handeling parcels that should be re-labeled I spent a lot of time waiting for single labels to be printet after each scan, I want to save time by having that process more efficient.

Background

With C2C and C2B volumes increasing, the number of parcels being re-labeled rapidly increase. The process of re-labeling in Cargostream today is done parcel by parcels. There is great potential for saving time (and cost) by making the re-labeling process more flexible.

Deliveries

  • Functionality for flexible configure and sequence printing labels for incoming volume in Cargostream. The functionality enables bulk-printing of labels (instead of one by one as today) and also the possibility to turn off label printing.

The Cargostream administrator can define a desired number of labels to be printed in bulk and a desired waiting-time to print labels before the chosen number is reached.

By using this functionality, the cargostream operator can postpone the print after each scan, and the system will automatically bulk up the desired number of labels into the print of one pdf file. The waiting-time is used to for the system to automatically print labels after a certain amount of time, e.g. at the end of a scanning session when the remaining number of parcels to be re-labeled is too low. There is also a "print immediately" button available for the operator to the far right in the interface.

If you want everything to work as is does today, there is no change required in the Cargostream admin. For all existing stations we have added the integration with default printing after each label, as a default. If you want to use the new functionality, your Cargostream administrator can configure your desired setup for each station.

You can read more about this in updated documentation: Cargostream Admin - Integrations
