Release Note: Parcel Delivery Flexibility Enhancement

AUTHOR: The Distribution Innovation team

We are pleased to announce a new feature that empowers consumers to have greater control over their parcel deliveries, allowing them to customize the delivery experience according to their convenience.

Background:

Currently, once a parcel is booked, it is not possible for consumers to make changes to the delivery details. However, consumer flexibility is consistently ranked as a top priority when selecting a carrier, as highlighted in various market surveys. By offering the ability to modify the destination and delivery method, we aim to provide an enhanced level of convenience to consumers, ultimately improving the conversion rate at the webshop checkout.

Key Features:

1. Service Point Change Functionality:

- Through APIs consumers can now change the designated service point where their parcel will be delivered. This flexibility allows for seamless adjustments to accommodate shifting preferences or logistical requirements.

2. Delivery Method Change Functionality:

- Similarly, consumers can now modify the delivery method (freight product) for their parcels using APIs. This feature enables customers to choose a delivery option that best suits their needs.

Important Considerations:

- Both functionalities include re-labeling of the changed parcel in DI's scanner, Cargostream, as the details on the original label will no longer be accurate.

- The enhanced flexibility in parcel delivery is available for B2C, C2B, and C2C freight products when carriers utilize DI Distribution or DI Service Point.

- These functionalities can be utilized between the booking stage and the first scan of the parcel.

Benefits and Opportunities:

- By providing consumers with the ability to customize their parcel deliveries, our customers can differentiate themselves in the market, attracting webshops and consumers seeking flexible delivery options.

- The newfound flexibility may also serve as an enticing feature that consumers are willing to pay for, creating a potential new revenue stream for our customers.

We are excited to offer this enhanced parcel delivery flexibility, enabling consumers to tailor their delivery experience to their unique needs. If you have any questions or require further assistance, please reach out to our CSM or support team.
