Release Note: Sorting Machine Integration APIs

We are excited to introduce a new feature that allows distributors handling increasing parcel volumes to enhance their efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. With the new integration of sorting machine data, even more distributiors can leverage the power of DI's scanner solution, Cargostream, to streamline their sorting processes.

Background:

Cargostream offers an administration interface that enables customers to define their desired sorting setup and functionality based on the structures defined in DI distribution and DI ServicePoint. However, as parcel volumes continue to rise, operators require more automated equipment like sorting machines. To address this need, we have developed APIs that facilitate seamless integration with sorting machines, enabling carriers to leverage the benefits of Cargostream.

Key Deliverables:

1. Cargostream Alias API:

• This API retrieves the alias for a parcel before it is scanned at the sorting machine. It ensures that the sorting machine assigns the correct alias to the parcel.

1. Cargostream Scan API:

• After a parcel is scanned at the sorting machine, this API is used to register the scan information in DI. It triggers desired functionalities, such as activation to EDG/Buddy, based on the configuration set for the Cargostream station.

1. Parcel Update Measurements API:

• This API allows for the modification of the weight and size of a parcel that has already been booked. It is used when the parcel has arrived in the value chain and requires updated measurements.

Benefits and Availability:

• These APIs provide access to all current sorting possibilities and functionalities offered by Cargostream without using the Cargostream interface directly.

• The response and actions triggered by the APIs are based on the setup configured for the specific Cargostream station specified in the request.

• Detailed specifications and further information regarding the integration APIs will be made available on di.no/doc as they are defined and progress.

• These APIs are included for customers of DI Parcel/Commerce, where API use is regulated, or can be obtained as a separate add-on. For more information, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager (CSM).
