Support scan for future distribution dates in Cargostream
Production date: 08.01.2024
Background
Previously DI's scanner solution Cargostream only knew of the distribution structure for the next day and therefore only handled geographical alias for parcels with a destination that has distribution the next day. This has been a problem when a parcel is destined for a future distribution date as Cargostream was not able to scan it. This has lead to parcels being missorted and delayed.
Feature Overview
To address this issue, a new feature has been developed called "Support scan for future distribution dates". This feature allows scan operators to sort and handle parcel volumes that will be distributed on future distribution dates.
Key Deliverables
The key deliverables of this feature are:
Being able to see and edit aliases for the next seven days, instead of only for the next day
Allow scan and sorting of parcels with a destination that does not have distribution the next day
Reduce the risk of parcel volumes being scanned into the wrong distribution cycle
Enable a more efficient scanning process by allowing operators to handle parcel volumes for future distribution days
How does it work
In Cargostream Admin, you will be able to see and edit the aliases for the next seven distribution days. When scanning on a station where the feature is enabled, the system will sort the routes based on the next possible distribution date, selecting the closest date.
To help you see when your routes are active, we have added the day matrix of the routes when visible in Cargostream and Cargostream Admin:
How to Set It Up
To enable the feature, simply log in to the Cargostream admin page and go to the station where you want to test it. Click on the "Edit Station" button and then select the "Support scan for future distribution dates" option.
Important remark: in order for a future route to be included, it must be connected to a transport car for next the day ahead. Thus meaning you cannot scan a future parcel if you cannot transport it the next day after you are scanning it.
How to get started
We highly recommend testing this new feature on a small scale before opening for it on many of your stations. An easy way to test it may be to clone the station where you want run your testing, then you can easily switch back to the original set-up station and minimize risk of affecting your day-to-day operation if the feature did not work as expected for you. This will help to identify any potential issues and ensure that the feature is working as intended.
We are looking forward to getting feedback on this new feature. Please contact support if you have any questions or issues.
