Support scan for future distribution dates in Cargostream

User story

As a scan operator I want to be able to sort and handle parcel volumes that should be distributed on future distribution dates to work more efficiently

Background

Today DI's scanner solution Cargostream only knows of the distribution structure for the next day, and therefore only handles geographical alias for parcels with a destination that has distribution the next day.

There are already several geographies where the parcel delivery frequency changes during the week, often called A/B-structure or M135/M246. With print-volume frequency and volume decreasing, it is assumed that even more geographies will implement variations in parcel delivery frequency during the week.

To meet this operational changes the scanner solution needs to be able to sort and handle parcel volumes for future distribution days.

Deliverables

• Support scan and sorting of parcels with a destination that does not have distribution the next day

Timeline

• During Q3 there will be an exploration phase for defining how this will be implemented, in close cooperation with Cargostream users

• This is planned to be implemented during Q3 and Q4 2023
